How to Repair WinMX Music

WinMX Music is one of many powerful file-sharing applications using peer-to-peer principles to allow users to share files over the Net. This P2P client is used for downloading and sharing all types of computer files, such as music, video, images, games and text documents. Because it is Java based, WinMX Music works with Windows, Mac and Linux. It can connect to about 2 million other users and is a common file sharing client, particularly for music.

Instructions

    • 1

Update your version of WinMX Music to the latest version. As of October 2010, the latest version of this software is WinMX Music 4.8.8. (see References). This update will rectify any known issues from previous builds of the software.

    • 2

Perform a clean reinstall if you are still suffering from problems. Do this by clicking the "Add/Remove Programs" option in the control panel. Double-click on WinMX Music to uninstall the program.

    • 3

Restart your system to allow the uninstallation to take effect and then install the program again.

    • 4

Restore your system to an earlier date at which the program was working if a reinstall doesn't solve the problem. Enter the system restore program by clicking on "My Computer," the Windows folder and then the Windows32 folder. The system restore program is inside that folder and is called Rstrui.exe.

Select a date when WinMX Music was functioning and and click "Restore."
