Yamaha EMX88s Powered Mixer Specifications

The Yamaha EMX series of live sound mixers features self-powered operation. The EMX88s has an all-in-one design, digital effects, a rack mount design and forced-air cooling. The unit also features a stand-by mode that's useful for live musicians and bands to use between sets. Yamaha tested the EMX88s to run continuously for 200 hours under normal use.
  1. Output Power

    • The Yamaha EMX88s features a maximum left/right output power of 400 watts-per-channel at 4Ω (ohms) and 0.5 percent total harmonic distortion at 1 kHz. The left/right configuration also outputs 270 watts-per-channel at 8Ω with 0.5 percent total harmonic distortion at 1 kHz. When the unit gets used in bridge mode (left and right channels bridged together) it features a maximum output of 800 watts at 8Ω, 0.5 percent total harmonic distortion and 1 kHz.

    Frequency Response

    • Frequency response of the Yamaha EMX88s measures 20 Hz to 20 kHz from +1dB to -3dB at 1-watt output into 8Ω. The unit measures the same frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz when used at +4dB output into 10 kΩ.

    Input Equalization

    • The EMX88s offers high shelving equalization at 10 kHz. It also offers mid-peaking equalization at 2.5 kHz and low shelving equalization at 100 Hz. All input equalization has a ±15dB maximum.

    Hum and Noise

    • The Yamaha EMX88s has equivalent input noise of -124dB and residual output noise of -65dB through the speaker output. The unit also has residual output noise of -88 dB through the main and monitor outputs. With the master lever control used and set to a nominal level and all channel controls set to a minimum the unit exhibits -79dB noise through the main output. Under the same conditions the unit exhibits -75dB noise through the monitor output. With the master level control used and set to a nominal level and one channel level control used and set to a nominal level the unit exhibits -69dB noise through the main output. With all channel level controls set to a minimum the unit exhibits -84 dB through the effect output. With one channel level control set to a nominal level the unit exhibits -64dB through the effect output.

    Graphic Equalization

    • The Yamaha EMX88s features seven-band equalization that includes frequencies of 125 Hz, 250Hz, 500Hz, 1kHz, 2kHz, 4kHz and 8kHz. All graphic equalization has a maximum output of a ±12dB.

    Internal Digital Effects

    • The EMX88s has 16 internal digital effects that are programmed via parameter control or tap delay control.

    Dimensions and Weight

    • The Yamaha EMX88s measures 18.97 inches wide, 12.00 inches high and 12.91 inches deep. The unit weighs 34.17 lbs.
