Straighten out the wire coat hanger, reversing each of the angles to create a long, straight wire.
Twist the wire 90 degrees in any direction around 7 inches from one end. This will form the first corner of your four-cornered mic stand.
Twist the wire 90 degrees again, 5 inches along the wire from the point of the previous twist, to form the first side support of the mic stand. Repeat this process to create a 5-inch-by-5-inch base, securing the base by wrapping the end of the wire around the corner where it meets the frame. You should have around 7 inches of wire remaining.
Loop the remaining wire in half, and secure the loop to the frame at the top and bottom. Angle the loop upwards to create your cool coat-hanger mic stand.
Create a pop shield to go with your mic stand by using a pair of old tights and a coat hanger. Stretch the tights across the frame of the coat hanger and position in front of your mic stand to improve the quality of vocal recording.
Customize your stand with cool designs of your choosing. Use sequins, glitter or other ornamentation to round off your quick, funky and practical mic stand.
