How to Remove a Cursor Line in Audacity

The free audio program Audacity allows you to select portions of tracks for editing by clicking within a track and dragging a cursor over to wherever you want the selection to end. If you accidentally click inside a track without dragging the cursor, you'll end up with a vertical line stuck in the middle of the track. Remove this line so you don't accidentally edit the wrong section of the track.

Instructions

    • 1

Move the cursor outside the track, but keep it inside the Audacity window where the tracks appear when you record or edit.

    • 2

Place the cursor over a portion of the window that is not in or between any other tracks.

    • 3

Click the empty section to make the cursor line disappear.
