How to Install the Roland VS2400

The Roland VS-2400 is a 12-track digital recording workstation. Among the many features included with the workstation is a built-in CD-R burner, and the ability to connect a mouse, keyboard and external video monitor to the recorder. The workstation also comes with a pre-installed operating system that allows you to use the recorder in a virtual environment. You can purchase expansion cards to improve the VS-2400's performance. These expansion cards include everything from effects to sound cards that provide surround sound support for mixing.

Instructions

    • 1

Power down the recorder and disconnect the power cable and all other audio cables from the unit. Attach an antistatic wrist strap to your wrist. This prevents electrical damage to the recorder's motherboard as you install new hardware.

    • 2

Place the recorder face down on a flat work surface. Unscrew the 15 Phillips-head screws from the Roland's bottom panel. Carefully remove the bottom panel to reveal the internal circuitry.

    • 3

Position the recorder so the audio connectors on the back of the unit are facing you. Locate the two expansion card slots in the lower-left corner of the unit.

    • 4

Align the pins on the expansion card with the pin holes inside the card slot on the motherboard. Place the card inside the expansion slot and press down until it is firmly connected to the motherboard.

    • 5

Place the bottom panel back onto the bottom side of the unit. Refasten the 15 Phillips screws, and place the recorder face up.
