Download your purchased copy of Auto-Tune from the Antares website. You will be prompted to do several things, such as agree to terms and conditions and choose a location in a folder for the files. Follow each step until your installation is complete.
Open an Internet browser and go to the Antares website. Click on the "Authorize" link at the top of the site, and then click on the blue "Click Here" link in the "Register New Software for the First Time" section. Select the appropriate link for your version of Auto-Tune, and you will be taken to a page on which the final link says "Continue to iLok Authorization." There is a warning in the paragraph above that says it is best to register your iLok before continuing.
Insert your iLok smart key to a USB port on your computer, and then open a new browser. Go to the iLok website. In the box that says "Sign into Account," click the black "Create Free Account" link. Follow the steps to create your account and then sign in.
Click on the white "Download Licenses" link on left-hand side of the screen, and select your license to download. Return to the "iLoks & Licenses" page. Click the blue "Add New iLok" link if your iLok was not automatically added to your iLoks list. Follow the steps to add your iLok. Finally, click on your new license and add it to your iLok.
Return to your browser that is on the Antares website. Fill out the required information to register your activated iLok and license with Antares.
Open Pro Tools on your computer. Click either the button for creating a new session or the button for opening one of your recent sessions.
Create or select an audio track within your session. If you do not have the "Inserts" section visible on your tracks, right-click on the gray area next to the "Bars/Beats" or "Minutes/Sections" box just above your highest track and check "Inserts." You can also press and hold "Control" or "Command" and then "=" to switch to the view of the mixer, which always has the "Inserts" section available.
Click on a blank "Inserts" box, and hover your mouse over "Multi-channel Plug-In" or "Mono Plug-In" when the menu appears. Hover the mouse over "Pitch-shift" when the next menu appears, and then click on your version of Auto-Tune.
Type your registration code, which came with your download or inside the purchased Auto-Tune box, if you chose not to do so when installing it. Auto-Tune will open.
