ADAM sells each A7 nearfield monitor individually, rather than as a pair. A single ADAM A7 monitor measures 13.0 inches tall, 7.5 inches wide and 11.0 inches deep at its deepest point. It weighs 17.6 lbs. before any optional upgrades or accessories. The A7 is housed in a slate gray enclosure. Unlike some monitors, both the A7's power button and its volume control knob are located on the front of the unit.
The ADAM A7 has a single 4.5-inch ART tweeter. The A7's tweeter has an equivalent diaphragm size of 2.5 inches and a velocity transform ratio of 4-to-1. The tweeter is paired with a single 6.5-inch Rohacell carbon fiber, or carbon sandwich, woofer. The material out of which the woofer is constructed is designed for a combination of high internal dampening, high rigidity and low weight, according to ADAM Audio.
The A7 has a pair of magnetically sealed drivers powered by separate 50-watt RMS, 80-watt peak amplifiers. The A7's back panel sports a variety controls that allow users to adjust the speakers to suit the space in which they're being used. Controls include input sensitivity, a plus or minus six-decibel high shelf equalization control situated at 6 kHz, a plus or minus six-decibel low shelf equalization control at 150 Hz and plus or minus four decibels of tweeter gain. The A7's balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs are located on the back of the unit as well.
The A7 has a frequency response range of 46 Hz to the 35 kHz, a total harmonic distortion of less than 1.5 percent, long-term output of approximately 105 decibels and a maximum peak of approximately 115 decibels. The A7's crossover is located at 2,200 Hz. The monitor has an input impedance of 10 KOhm. The speaker enclosure features chamfered upper cabinet corners designed to reduce reflections.
