How to Build an ISDN Audio Booth at Home

ISDN is a company that offers a variety of products and software in the audio field. An ISDN audio booth is a recording studio that makes use of ISDN technology. An audio booth can be constructed in any room in the home. The exact nature of the technical setup will depend heavily on what equipment is in the booth; this is up to the producer. The setup will also depend on which ISDN components are used.

Instructions

    • 1

Select a space for the studio. A small room, preferably without windows, is best. A walk-in closet or corner room in a basement can also be ideal.

    • 2

Line the floor with padded soundproofing panels.

    • 3

Attach soundproofing panels to the walls and ceiling. The panels are light and can be nailed in.

    • 4

Set up the recording equipment. This step will vary greatly depending on the nature of the equipment and budget. If you have ISDN software, install it on the computer in the room. If you have a physical ISDN device, then connect it to the mixer or recorder via an XLR cable. If you are using a physical ISDN device with a computer, then connect it via an XLR-to 3.5mm-cable; you can plug the 3.5mm cable into the computer's "Line In" port. Plug in any microphones or instruments into the ISDN device via the XLR connection ports.
