Setting Up Electronic Drums With EZdrummer

Toontrack's EZdrummer program allows you to create, record and modify drum tracks on your home computer. While you can create tracks with nothing more than a mouse and keyboard, the most effective way to control EZdrummer is with an attached electronic drum kit. You can assign any of the program's pre-loaded sounds to each of your electronic drum pads, giving you a wide variety of sound choices. Any electronic drum kit with a "MIDI Out" port is compatible with EZdrummer.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your computer's file directory and navigate to the DVD drive (if you are installing EZdrummer from a disc) or the EZdrummer download file (if you are installing from a digital download).

    • 2

Run the "EZdrummer Installer" program. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete installation of the program.

    • 3

Run the "EZdrummer" program after installation is complete. Follow the prompts to authenticate your software. You should now see the default virtual drum kit.

    • 4

Plug one end of the MIDI cable into the "MIDI out" port of your electronic drum kit and the other into the MIDI end of the MIDI-to-USB cable.

    • 5

Plug the USB end of the MIDI-to-USB cable into any open USB port on your computer.

    • 6

Power on your electronic drum kit. The plug-and-play feature of the EZdrummer software should recognize the new device and automatically configure it to control the software. The blue "MIDI" light at the bottom of the screen should light up.

    • 7

Click on "File" then "MIDI control" and follow the on-screen prompts if the "MIDI" light does not light up automatically.
