Wavelab has CD drivers built in, to be used as needed. No setup parameters within Wavelab are available to adjust. To confirm a CD drive is accessible for recording, open a new CD project by clicking File in the menu bar, selecting New from the drop-down menu and then selecting Basic Audio CD. Add at least one track to the CD project and click the down arrow in the upper left corner. Select Write CD from the drop-down and check that your CD recorder is listed under Device.
Other programs and drivers may access your CD recorder and make it unavailable for use with Wavelab's drivers. Close any other programs that might make use of the CD recorder. These include media players, other CD burning software and drivers that use your CD-RW drive as a de facto diskette. These programs, InCD for one example, require constant access to the drive and will disable access to the CD recorder by other software and drivers.
When you install Wavelab after a CD recorder, no conflicts should arise, barring software issues. Updates to hardware or operating systems may cause a CD drive to go unrecognized. Contact the manufacturer's website and be sure you have the most recent drivers installed for your hardware and operating system. Once you have updated, check your CD recorder with other programs to ensure proper operation. Close these programs and try your recorder in Wavelab. If you are using a CD recorder connected via USB, try using a different USB port.
Check Steinberg's website for updates, patches and new drivers applying to your software version. Install all appropriate updates and check again. If your recorder still does not show within Wavelab, uninstall the program completely and reinstall following the instructions that came with your software package. Apply any updates or patches from the Wavelab site and check for access to your CD recorder.
