Attach the CD recorder to the mixer. The CD recorder is not your usual burner, but rather has RCA inputs that plug directly into your soundboard. Connect the main outputs of the soundboard to the CD recorder's inputs with the RCA cables.
Tell your performers to perform. Set the gain, using the knobs at the top of the soundboard, until you have the right mix and levels. Test the sound through headphones on your soundboard. Record-enable your CD recorder. You can do this by pressing "record" on your CD recorder. Listen to the sound through headphones on your CD recorder.
Put a blank CDR into your CD recorder. Press play on your CD recorder. You already have record-enabled it, so pressing play will make it record.
Tell the performers to perform. Monitor the sound through headphones and make adjustments as necessary. Your live recording cannot be altered once it is finished. When the performance is over, press stop on the CD recorder.
Finalize the recording. Your CD recorder will ask you to "Finalize," which means you are permanently burning the performance to CD. Listen back to your recording to see if you are satisfied.
