1. Gather the necessary tools and materials.
- Volume control switch (RadioShack part number 271-215)
- Soldering iron
- Solder
- Wire strippers
- Electrical tape
2. Prepare the speaker wire.
- Cut the speaker wire in half.
- Strip the ends of the speaker wire about 1/4 inch.
3. Connect the speaker wire to the switch.
- Connect one end of the speaker wire to the "A" terminal on the switch.
- Connect the other end of the speaker wire to the "B" terminal on the switch.
4. Connect the power supply wire.
- Connect the positive terminal of the power supply to the "+" terminal on the switch.
- Connect the negative terminal of the power supply to the "-" terminal on the switch.
5. Test the switch.
- Turn on the power supply.
- Turn the volume control switch up and down.
- The volume of the speaker should increase and decrease as you turn the switch up and down, or there may be no sound due to speaker phase, switch polarity, or improper switch wiring. If the switch is wired correctly, the speaker will produce sound when you turn the knob.
6. Secure the connections.
- Use electrical tape to secure the connections between the speaker wire, power supply wire, and switch.
Your volume control switch is now wired and ready to use.
