How to Sew a DVD Holder

If you are using a DVD case to trace from, there is also very little need for measuring, making this a simple craft that can be completed in a short amount of time. These holders can be customized as desired to reflect the DVD it is holding. They also make for great gift wrap that can be reused.

Instructions

  1. Making the DVD Holder

    • 1

Lay two sheets of felt on top of each other on a flat surface. Pin together with a straight pin. Position your DVD case over the felt and trace around the sides and bottom with a marker.

    • 2

Sew along your traced lines with a sewing machine. Unpin your felt fabric. Cut off excess material along the top and sides. Turn inside out.

    • 3

Measure a triangle onto your remaining piece of felt that is 5.32" across on each side. Cut out your triangle and pin one edge to the back side of the unsewn top of your case. Sew in place with a sewing machine.

    • 4

Cut a small slit slightly above the point of your triangle. This will be the hole for your button to go through. Fold over the front of your DVD case to determine where you will position your button. Mark the position with a pen.

    • 5

Sew your button into place on the front of your DVD case. Now you will be able to slide your DVD into the holder and then close shut by folding your triangle enclosure over the front of your case and buttoning to close.
