Reggae Clubs in New York

In Jamaica in 1960, the word \"reggae\" was invented and put to use to refer to a \"ragged\" style of music for dancing, one which still had its foundation based in New Orleans rhythm 'n' blues. It was characterized by an inversion of the role of base and guitar and a weeping style of chanting to emphasize the syncopated beat. In New York's diverse club scene, reggae clubs are those that heavily feature reggae music along with other types like soca and R&B.
