Install the audio recording and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) software on your computer. Plug your microphone into your computer and use the audio software to perform a test record to ensure the microphone and headphones are working properly. Call someone using the VoIP software, and test to ensure your audio software can record the calls. You may be required to download a plug-in or update to be able to record VoIP calls.
Write out your script for your show. Ask yourself what audience your show is targeted at. Are they knowledgeable about the topic, or are you educating them? Write to cater to the needs of the audience you want to reach. Avoid using technical terms or jargon unless absolutely necessary. Do not worry about time; this is your show, under your complete control, and you can take as little or as much time as needed.
Break your script into paragraphs of three or four sentences. Adjust the volume so that it is audible without any feedback. Record each paragraph, and then play it back. If you are satisfied, move on to the next paragraph, or rerecord the paragraph. Speak clearly and at a measured pace so your audience can understand your speech. Edit out any breathing sounds or other unwanted noise from each paragraph, and then edit them together into one full length file. Render this file as a high-quality MP3.
