How to Create a Karaoke Backtrack

The best way to source music for a karaoke backtrack is to search online for CD-G packages that have been made for the job. Unfortunately, the range of music available in this format can be limited and you may be hard pressed to track down songs that you particularly want to perform. If you can't find what you're looking for, there are other ways of sourcing the necessary accompaniment to your vocal performance. You can use technology to remove the vocals from the original version of the song you want to sing.

      Navigate to Elevayta.net and click on "Products."

      Scroll down the screen and click on "Extra Boy Pro."

      Click on "Demo" and follow the instructions to install.

      Launch your music editor, create a new project or song and import the vocal version of the song you want to sing to a single track on your editor's sequencer.

      Open the effects menu on the track you've loaded the song to and select "Extra Boy Pro."

      Select "Full spectrum" mode and play the track back. The vocals will have been removed or greatly reduced. As the dynamics of each track are different, try experimenting with the Extra Boy's controls to maximize results.

      Mix the altered track down to MP3 or WAV format and burn to disk ready for use as a karaoke backing track.
