How to Delete Phrases on Loop Station

The BOSS RC-20 and RC-20XL Loop Stations were the first popular phrase sampler foot pedals for guitarists that provided extended sampling time, allowing a player to record, for example, a chord progression and then play it back on the fly to provide backing for a solo. Multiple layers of sampling and permanent storage of favorite loops increase flexibility and the Loop Station becomes a creative tool in itself.

Instructions

    • 1

Play a phrase into the Loop Station. When you first record a track, it is stored in temporary memory. It will remain in memory until you either power down the Loop Station or switch to another phrase track without saving the current phrase.

    • 2

Erase the current track loaded into temporary memory also by pressing and holding the right foot switch for two seconds or longer. Note that if you loaded a saved phrase, it will be deleted from current temporary memory only, not its permanent saved location.

    • 3

Delete a saved phrase by selecting the appropriate phase track using the "Phrase Select" knob. Simultaneously press and hold both the "Shift" and "Delete" buttons. Note that these are dual function buttons also labeled "Exit" and "Write." Lights on both buttons will flash to indicate the delete function is ready. Press the "Delete" button again to confirm deletion of the phrase. The light on the button will remain lit as data is being deleted and will go out when the operation is complete.
