Open the sewing machine head by pulling up on the top part of the sewing machine. This will expose the cams that are used to guide the sewing thread.
Locate the vertical feed cam on the right side of the sewing machine. It is closest to the top of the sewing machine and has two screws on the underside of the cam.
Loosen the screws on the vertical feed cam by turning them counterclockwise with a flat-head screwdriver.
Locate the "+" and "-" sign on the feed cam. By turning the feed cam in the direction of these symbols you can increase or decrease the timing of the feed. The standard position for the cam is marked by an engraving on the cam.
Replace the cover and test the timing by depressing the foot pedal with your right foot. If the sewing machine's speed is too fast, unplug the power and make small adjustments to increase or decrease the speed. Remember, you can increase the speed by turning the cam in the direction of the "+" sign and decrease it by moving toward the "-" sign.
