How is volume in a xylophone changed?

The volume of a xylophone is changed by the size of the bars. Longer bars produce a lower pitch and louder sound, and shorter bars produce a higher pitch and softer sound. Additionally, wider bars have a thicker tone than thinner bars. The harder the bars are hit, the louder the sound produced.
