Go to the FL Studio website (see Resources). Click the "FL Studio" link. Scroll down to the "Download" button. Press one of the download links to download the Fruity Loops demo version. Open the program and run the tutorial to become familiar with how Fruity Loops functions.
Start by setting the tempo to about 160. This is the average tempo for most crunk beats. Click the "Metronome" option to hear the tempo.
Create the drum pattern first. Find the BD drum sample under the "Vintage" sample browser. Insert the BD drum, hand-clap, hat and snare into the sample loader from the "Vintage" browser. These sounds are akin to samples that hip-hop producers use in their crunk beats.
Extend the beats per bar to eight. Set the hand-clap at every eighth step. Set the hats at every second step. Place the drum on the first and eighth step. This drum pattern resembles a Lil Jon production.
Right click an open sample space on the sample loader. Insert the "boobass" sample into the loader. Click the "Plugin" option on the "boobass" channel settings. Turn the bass all the way up. Crunk beats contain a lot of bass. Play around with a rhythm until you find something upbeat. Create two bass-line variations.
Add strings under the "Pack" browser. Search the "Vocals" browser. Add a vocal sample to give the beat flare.
