Are the black keys on a piano of any value?

The black keys on a piano are just as valuable as the white keys. They serve different functions and can be used to create different sounds and harmonies.

Piano scales involve both black and white keys. If there were no black keys, playing music across a range of musical keys or certain types of chords become challenging if not impossible.

So whether playing classical, pop, jazz, or folk piano (not a full representation of a musical genres with the piano at the forefront), the black keys are certainly no less than any white key in importance.
