Henry Purcell

Henry Purcell (1659–1695) was an English composer known as one of the greatest English composers. He wrote over 450 works, including operas, anthems, odes, and songs, and is considered one of the most important composers of the Baroque era. His most famous works include the operas Dido and Aeneas and King Arthur, the anthem My Heart Is Inditing, and the song Hail, Bright Cecilia. Purcell was also the first composer to write for the trumpet as a solo instrument. His Trumpet Tune in D major is one of the most famous and recognizable pieces of trumpet music.
