Did country music originate from Irish music?
While country music has been influenced by many genres, it did not directly originate from Irish music. Its primary roots lie in folk traditions of various cultural groups in rural North America, notably Irish, Scottish, English, Appalachian, Cajun, blues, gospel, and cowboy music. Over time, these influences blended to form what eventually came to be known as "country music." Each influenced country music in certain ways and merged within America where many cultures mingled. So while Irish music contributed to and has had an impression on country music, it wouldn't be quite accurate to assert their country's original source directly.
