How to Fix Dry Erase Markers

Dry erase markers are markers that can be wiped away from surfaces without the help of water. They are most commonly used on white boards, but can also be used to leave notes/pictures on mirrors, tables, and even windows. While the caps on dry erase markers are secure, it is very common for the markers to dry out anyway, especially if the markers are stored horizontally. Usually, storing the markers vertically can fix the problem, but if it doesn't, there are a few tricks you can do to revive the marker.

Instructions

    • 1

Tie a small knot at the end of a piece of string.

    • 2

Tape the knotted end of the string at the bottom end of the dry erase marker. Swing the string above your head in a circular motion. The force of gravity will pull the remaining ink towards the tip of the marker.

    • 3

Test the marker to see if the gravity trick worked. If it didn't, use a pair of pliers to carefully remove the tip of the marker. Turn the tip over and use the pliers to replace the tip into the marker. The opposite end of the marker tip will still be wet with the ink that never traveled fully forward.
