Why does brutus want their army to meet the enemy forces at philippi?

Cassius prefers to march to Macedonia so that Antony and Octavian would be forced to fight them in a region favourable for cavalry. Brutus insists on meeting the enemy at Philippi because it is nearer and because he fears delay will cause desertions.
