How to Do the Train Whistle on the Flute

Create a unique sound on the flute that is similar to the high-pitched tone of a train whistle.       Hold the flute parallel to your body so the mouthpiece is an inch from your lips and your fingers are gently resting on all of the keys.

      Press down on all of the keys for your left hand, except for your pinkie. For your right hand, place the index, third finger and right pinkie on the C# key and the C roller key. Leave the fourth finger upward.

      Pucker your lips and blow air into the mouthpiece. Move the flute away from or toward your body to cause the flute's pitch to increase or decrease.
