Was the US national anthem created during Civil War?

The US national anthem, titled "The Star-Spangled Banner", was not written during the American Civil War. The lyrics of the anthem were originally penned in 1814 by Francis Scott Key, an amateur poet and lawyer, during the Battle of Baltimore in the War of 1812, a conflict that took place from 1812 to 1815 between the United States and the United Kingdom and its Native American allies. Key was inspired by the sight of an American flag flying over Fort McHenry in Baltimore, Maryland, during a British attack. "The Star-Spangled Banner" became widely popular and was later designated as the US national anthem in 1931 by an Act of Congress. The American Civil War, on the other hand, occurred between 1861 and 1865, several decades after the composition of the national anthem.
