Instructions

    • 1

Draw or trace your final design onto poster board. For added effect in the dark, black poster board or card stock can be used.

    • 2

Measure the length of each line on your design. Poke a hole every quarter inch along this line using scissors. Push an LED through this hole from the back of the poster board.

    • 3

Use the LED calculator in the references section to calculate how you should wire your LED sign board. If you do not know the LED voltage drop or LED current rating for your LEDs, use the recommended values.

    • 4

Solder the LEDs, resistors and 9-volt battery together. The long wire coming out of each LED is usually the positive end. If you're in doubt, reference the wiring diagram generated by the LED calculator.

    • 5

Turn on your LED sign board by connecting a battery. If your LED sign board doesn't work, check for loose connections. If everything works, glue the LEDs to the poster board with super glue and tape the 9-volt battery to the back of the sign.
