Peavey MB 1 Specifications

The Peavey MB-1 is a mid-bass horn. It is part of the Project One sound system, which includes the CH-4C high frequency horn and FH-2 low frequency enclosure. This sound system was designed for concert situations. A major component of the Project One is a long sound range in a relatively small size.
  1. Frequency Response

    • The Peavey MB-1 is designed specifically to work in the mid to bass range of sound. It has a frequency response between 150 Hz to 1.2 KHz. This is a smaller range than some other horn designs because it is a specialized part of the Project One sound system. The CH-4C horn handles the 800 Hz to 16 KHz response range. The FH-2 handles the 60 Hz to 400 Hz range. The MB-1 intentionally overlaps the frequency response range of the other horns to ensure the entire 60 Hz to 16 KHz range is covered completely.

    Size

    • The MB-1 weighs 110 lbs. It is 20.75 inches tall, 42 inches wide and 36 inches deep. The Project One system is designed to be stacked. The MB-1 is placed on top of the FH-2, and the CH-4C is on top of it. The entire system occupies a 42.25 inch by 40.75 inch area on the stage. The stacked Project One system weighs a total of 376 pounds.

    Electronic Specifications

    • The MB-1 has an impedance level of 8 ohms and would need to be paired with an 8 ohm source to operate properly. It continuously uses 150 watts of power when in use. The sound pressure level is 109 dB. This is slightly louder than a motorcycle engine. The entire Project One system continuously uses 500 watts of power.
