Remove parts of the speaker cabinet that may be holding down the old coating. Your amplifier grill, end-rounders and tone panel may need to be removed if they are on top of coating. Your end-rounders may be held down with nails. When removing these, be sure not to scratch the rounders. Your knife will help you get in between the nail and the rounder.
Tear away your old speaker coating slowly. Older coatings may be dry and crack or rip unevenly if you pull too fast.
Place sandpaper on the sanding block.
Sand away excess glue and any remaining coating.
Wipe away excess wood dust with a moist cloth.
Measure the length of your speaker cabinet from front-to-back, if viewing it from the front. Add 3 inches to the length. This is width of the piece of coating you will need.
Measure each side of your amp and add up the lengths. This will be the length of the piece of coating you will need.
Cut your coating to these specifications.
Turn your amp upside down and locate the center of the base. This is located at the halfway point between the left and the right of the amp.
Peel the protective paper from the back of the coating and stick down the tip of the paper.
Flatten the coating with your grout tool making sure that there are no bubbles as you wrap your coating around the amp.
Cut a slit in each corner of the speaker cabinet, both in the front and the back. Fold down the coating and put the corner rounders back on.
