Every November, folk singer Arlo Guthrie hosts a Thanksgiving concert at Carnegie Hall during the week of Thanksgiving. In the past, Guthrie has been joined by the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, the University of Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, the Burns Sisters, famed conductor John Nardolillo and fellow folk singer Pete Seeger. This event features a combination of Guthrie's music with classic American songs by Aaron Copland and Leonard Bernstein. As of 2010, tickets ranged from $13 to $70.
Throughout the month of November, the Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester, New York hosts the Going For Baroque music concert. This concert is held every Sunday during the month of November. At each concert, there is a 25-minute presentation and a mini recital performed by a student of the Eastman School of Music on the Italian Baroque organ. Performances are held at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. in the Memorial Art Gallery Fountain Court. Included in the ticket price is admission to the entire art gallery.
During the month of November, the Caramoor Estate in Katonah, New York hosts several musical events to celebrate the sounds of Mozart and other European classical composers. Mozart pieces that are performed include the Piano Quartet No. 1 in G minor and Piano Quartet No. 1 in G minor. In addition to Mozart, these performance feature music by Beethoven, Haydn, Kernis and Schubert. Pieces are performed by the Kuss Quartet European Ensemble, the Jasper String Quartet and the Caramoor Virtuosi.
New York City's Radio City Music Hall has hosted a holiday show for over 75 years at its historic Manhattan theater. The show begins the first weekend in November. This New York Christmas tradition features popular Christmas musical numbers performed by hundreds of dancers in lavish costumes. The most well-known aspect of this musical theater event is the Rockettes, which are a dance troupe known for their high kicks and extravagant costumes. The show and story varies year to year but the traditional Nutcracker performance is always offered.
