The PMH2000 is a front-mount, 10-channel mixer with side-mounted handle. It is 11 inches high by 18 inches long by 11 inches deep, and weighs about 30 pounds. It is built into a 3/4-inch plywood enclosure covered in tolex, with corner caps for reinforcement. All inputs and outputs are on the front panel, except for the speaker connections, which are located on the rear panel. Power is provided by a removable standard IEC cable, similar to any computer power cord.
A pair of amplifiers, each providing 250 watts into a 4-ohm speaker load (180 watts at 8 ohms), can also be bridged to provide a mono power output of 500 watts into an 8-ohm load. This allows the PMH2000 to provide both stereo and mono feeds or two mono feeds, as in a mains/monitor configuration. All configurations are supported by the front-panel controls. Speaker jacks are compatible with NEUTRIK© SPEAKON©-style connectors.
The PMH provides nine XLR inputs: six dedicated mono channels and other three shared with stereo line inputs. The 10th channel input is via stereo RCA connectors for use with sources like CD players or other home electronics. Though billed as a 10-channel mixer, there are, in fact, 14 channels with all stereo feeds engaged. The Main section at the lower right front panel provides preamp outputs and power amp inputs for flexibility.
Each XLR channel strip is configured top-to-bottom with an effects send, three-band EQ controls, monitor send and level knobs. Next comes a peak indicator LED and 25 dB pad above the 1/4-inch and XLR inputs themselves. Phantom power for all XLR strips is switched below the RCA inputs on channel 10. Stereo channels 7 to 9 bypass the pad switch in favor of a second 1/4-inch input. All knobs have plenty of room for access.
To the right of the channel strips, the built-in effects unit is at the top, providing 99 user-selectable programs. Below are two 9-band graphic equalizers, switchable between stereo and mains/monitor configuration. Each EQ can be switched on independently, and a rumble filter switch for channels 1 to 6 is provided. Built-in effects can be sent separately to both mains and monitor via level knobs, and output level controls are located beneath 5 segment LED meters.
