How to Design a DJ Sales Booth

A DJ sales booth is what invites your potential customers to your services at a convention or expo, therefore you will want to make sure that the visual appeal draws them into your space. While a DJ booth in a club or venue allows the performer to easily access all of the music being played, a sales booth should do just the same with the marketing information. Your booth also features your DJ hardware and audio equipment, such as speakers and microphone, in the sales booth area. If you want to design a DJ sales booth, determine the total amount of space you are allowed for setup.

Things You'll Need

  • Pencil
  • Industrial ruler
  • 3/4" plywood (8)
  • Electric saw

Instructions

    • 1

Draw a medium-sized rectangle in the middle of your paper to represent the section of the sales booth where your equipment will be placed. Your customers will want to know how you set up for your gigs, therefore you need to designate at least half of your booth space to equipment alone.

    • 2

Place all of your equipment, whether it be turntables and mixers or computers and controllers, onto a flat surface. Measure the width and depth of this equipment in order to gauge the amount of space needed for this area of the sales booth. Sketch the equipment onto the rectangle you previously drew.

    • 3

Make small pencil marks on one of the plywood sheets to represent the measurements of your DJ equipment. Determine how much room you want outside of the hardware setup, as you might want to showcase brochures or other sales information to your customers. Connect each of the pencil marks with your ruler to create a rectangular surface area.

    • 4

Cut the plywood with the electric saw so that you shave off any unnecessary edges. Move slowly, as you want the edges of this particular booth surface to be as clean as possible. Your customers will appreciate a visually stimulating setup.

    • 5

Place the cut plywood flat on the ground and position each of the wood landscape ties at each corner, ensuring that these pieces line up thoroughly for a clean look. Use the L brackets and electric drill to screw in these legs securely to the plywood. Continue until all four legs are snug against the booth surface.

    • 6

Use the three pieces of plywood to create front and side panels of this part of the sales booth. Use the industrial ruler and pencil to precisely measure and sketch out each of the rectangular panels that will fit on this particular DJ booth. Use caution when using the electric saw, as well.

    • 7

Design a secondary table for all other marketing tools you will use in this sales booth area. This table should be slightly smaller in height than the DJ booth where all of the equipment sits. However, you may wish to include a wider table in order to hold TVs and video players, pamphlets, CDs, merchandise or any other objects you wish to display. Sketch out a rectangular table on your paper to give yourself a basic idea on how much space you will need.

    • 8

Build this secondary sales table in a similar fashion to the DJ booth, using the remaining 3/4-inch plywood sheets and landscape ties to create an adequate space. Drape a solid color sheet over this newly constructed table, then place any of the marketing items on top for showcasing.

    • 9

Create as many tables for this sales booth as you desire, taking note of how much space the convention or expo has allotted you. Always set up this sales booth in your home and include all audio equipment, pictures, merchandise and other objects you wish for your customers to see. This will give you a basic idea on what your area will look like in public.
