How to Hook Up Hercules DJ to Club Speakers

Hercules produce a brand of digital DJ controllers, usually used to control MP3s or similar music files playing on a laptop. They mimic the layout of a standard "turntables and mixer" setup, using a pair of jog wheels and a cross-fader. Though the standard Hercules controller is only an input device, the fourth generation doubles as an interface. It includes audio ports for connecting directly to a PA or amplifier for live use.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Power off the Hercules controller. If you can turn off the mixer before you connect the controller, do so.

    • 2

Connect the cables to the master outputs on the Hercules controller. Power on the controller.

    • 3

Select a channel on the mixer that you plan to use for the Hercules. Turn the volume fader and the gain control to zero.

    • 4

Connect the cables from the Hercules output to the input at the top of the mixer channel. Ensure that they are seated properly and will not move while you are playing, otherwise loud pops or voltage spikes could damage your equipment.

    • 5

Connect the Hercules to your computer using the USB cable. Boot up the computer and open your DJ software. Start a track playing and gradually increase the volume and gain on the mixer until the output is at a comfortable level.
