To make your own music video you will need music and a "story" to shoot. First, get a CD with some good music on it. Next, have ready a storyline or at least some ideas of what you want to shoot. What you shoot will be the movie portion of your video. Just think of things that seem to go with your music.
Next you need to set up your camcorder and tripod. You need a fluid tripod so you can pan around wherever it is you want to film. Put in the DV tape. A DV tape is a digital video tape and is most commonly used in expensive productions. The gray card also goes in your computer. You will need a gray card if you want to shoot indoors or at night. It adjusts the way the camera captures the light so you don't have to. With the gray card you should not get any overly bright spots or glare. It is very helpful too, if you use any bright artificial lighting.
Set up your CD player. Put in a CD and turn on any lights. You don't need to use any special lighting, but a Disk Light Reflector can help to diffuse bright light or sunlight more evenly. Turn on your camcorder and start filming.
When you are done filming, you will need to put everything together. To get everything the way you want you will need to use some movie-making software. There are many packages available from major companies. You can even get a free download. These packages work on your computer. You will use them to edit or add special effects.
Use your movie-making software to get the video just the way you want it. You can always re-shoot the parts that did not come out the way you wanted. Once you have finished editing, your video is ready for viewing. You have just produced your own music video.
