Instructions

    • 1

Navigate to CDstomper.com (exact link located in the References section) to download a free blank Word template for your jewel case insert.

    • 2

Click the link "Jewel Case Booklet/Inserts - Booklet, 1 booklet per sheet," and click "download."

    • 3

Open the downloaded file in Microsoft Word.

    • 4

Type the content you wish to include in the insert. Some suggestions are the contents of the CD, with the artist names and song titles. You can also include lyrics for each song, or other information.

    • 5

Format the typed content. Choose a font that best reflects the mood of your CD. For example, if it is a Classical music mix, you can select a more conservative font such as Garamond. If you prefer stylized fonts, you can go to a site such as Dafont.com (link located in Resources section) to download free fonts for your computer.

Insert graphics. Microsoft Word has its own clipart, and you can find it by going to "Insert," "Picture," and "Clipart." Otherwise, you can insert your own graphics. Go to "Insert," "Picture," "From File," and browse for your desired graphic. Use this opportunity to make your jewel-case insert personal. For example, if this CD is for a friend, you can use photos that remind him or her of your good times together.

Create "Crop marks." Crop marks are lines indicating where the document will be cut. Go to "Table" and click on "Draw Table." Table tools will show up. Click on the Pencil tool, and make sure that the setting is on a line and not "no border." Using the pencil tool, select the outer lines on the document.

    • 8

Print the document. If you used colors in your insert, make sure your computer optimizes your printer's performance. To do that, go to the "Advanced settings" on the print window, select "photo quality," and make sure that the settings are not on "grayscale."

With scissors, cut out the insert. Cut along the crop lines you created in step seven. Finally, fold the insert in half.
