How to Troubleshoot a Denon DN-C620

Denon’s DN-C620 broadcast CD (compact disc) player is a professional level CD player. It’s used in radio, churches, sports clubs and in the conventions industry. The device is rack-mounted, so fits in a 19-inch 1U slot. There is also a 12 percent plus or minus pitch control. As with many CD players, problems are generally mechanical and related to things like the disc loading mechanism failing to load the disc; cable connections; and disc errors. Other common problems will be related to the remote control batteries.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert fresh batteries in the remote control if the remote doesn’t control the Denon DN-C620.

    • 2

Load the disc properly if you get a “TOC Error” or “No Disc” error on the display. Just reload the disc and make sure it’s seated correctly. A “Disc Error” message means that the disc has problems--like not being recorded properly, scratches and incompatible formats. Eject the disc.

    • 3

Verify that the disc you want to play is compatible with the Denon DN-C620. The device will play MP3 and uncompressed digital WAV files. Decoding errors and incompatible discs will cause the playback to fail. The device plays standard compact discs (12-cm and 8-cm) in CD-R and CD-RW formats.

    • 4

Clean the disc with a soft cloth if the device won’t play the disc when the "Play" button is pressed. If the disc won’t eject, turn the power off and back on again, and try again. The device needs power to perform an eject.

    • 5

Secure all the connections tightly if there’s no sound, or it’s distorted. Check that the connections haven’t become loose. Reduce the amplifier volume if the sound is distorted. Don’t let the amplifier “clip.” Clipping occurs where the amplifier is set at full volume and can damage the amplifier.
