How to Burn Part of a Partial Music File

Digital music has made home editing and burning of music possible for anyone with a home computer. MP3s are the standard in digital music, but they aren't always the desired length. When you want to burn only part of a partial music file, it can be done with audio-editing software in a few steps.

Instructions

    • 1

      Open audio-editing software.

    • 2

Click "File" from the file menu at the top of the interface and click "Open." This will allow you to search for the partial music file you wish to burn.

    • 3

Highlight the partial music file you wish to burn and click "Open." This will open the file as a waveform in the sound-editing interface, which can be edited as a time line.

    • 4

Click and drag to highlight the portion of the music file you wish to burn.

    • 5

Click "File" and select "Export Selection as MP3." This will open a "Save File As" dialog box.

    • 6

Select the location to where you wish to save the partial music file and click "Save."

    • 7

Insert a blank CD into your disc-burning drive.

    • 8

Drag the partial music file to the disc-burning drive and follow the steps to burn the partial music file to disc.
