Launch your audio editing software. Try Free Audio Editor for Windows if you do not already have such a program. You may use Garage Band for free if you are a Mac user who does not want to purchase a new program for this purpose.
Load the song from which you would like to create a music clip into your audio editing software. Select "Import," "New File" or "Open File" from the menu bar's "File" tab. Choose the song from the ensuing browser.
Preview the section of the song that you would like to create a music clip from. Listen to the song and place the cursor at the beginning of the intended selection.
Click and drag your mouse cursor over the selection to highlight it.
Copy the selection. Select "Copy" from the menu bar's "Edit" tab or perform the designated copy command, such as "Ctrl + C" or "Command + C."
Create a new project window in your audio editing software. Select "New Project" or "New Window" from the menu bar's "File" tab.
Paste the selection into the new project window. Select "Paste" from the menu bar's "Edit" tab or perform the designated paste command.
Save the selection as a new audio file. Select "Save File" or "Export File" from the menu bar's "File" tab. Name the music clip and choose your desired file format from the "File Type" drop-down menu. Click "OK" or "Save" to complete the creation of your music clip.
