How to Use Guitar Rig 3 With Sonar 6

Sonar 6 is an audio-editing program built by Cakewalk that allows users to record, edit, and produce full songs with both audio and MIDI capabilities. Guitar Rig 3 is a software product developed by Native Instruments that is used for editing guitar tones. Through the VST plug-in system, it is possible to use Guitar Rig on a track in Sonar 6. This allows users to record guitar parts and have complete control over the sound.

Instructions

      Install Guitar Rig 3 to the file "c:\program files\cakewalk\vstplugins." This is the default VST folder that Sonar uses.

      Open a project in Cakewalk Sonar.

      Open the "Insert" menu at the top of the screen and create a new audio track.

      Click the "FX" button in the track properties bar to the side of the track name. Select "Guitar Rig 3" from the list of effects to use it on the track.
