How to Compress Songs for Mobile

Mobile phones support a wide range of media and file types. Although many phones can hold MicroSDs cards, the memory capacity is limited. In order to make the most of the available memory, compress your music files before transferring them to your phone. Music files can be quite large, and compressing them shrinks the file sizes.

    • 1

Use the Internet to access an online audio compressor website, such as Monkey's Audio, free-codecs and Gary's Hood.

    • 2

Click on "Browse" to locate the file you want to convert. Select it and click "Open."

    • 3

Change the bitrate according to how much you want to reduce the file. The lower the bit rate, the smaller the file. The smaller the file, the more sound quality is reduced.

    • 4

Select an output format and click "Send File." A new page loads when sending is completed.

    • 5

Right-click the link to your file, and select "Save Target As" or "Save Link As," select an output destination, and click "Save."
