Take a soft cloth and dip it into some rubbing alcohol. Clean the scratched surface of your CD with this cloth. The rubbing alcohol will clean away fingerprints and other imperfections that may be inhibiting the performance of your CD. As you clean, wipe from the inner edge of the CD to the outer edge. Doing so will minimize your chances of scratching the CD when cleaning it. When finished, allow the CD to air-dry.
Spray a moderate amount of furniture polish onto a soft cloth. Polish the scratched surface of your CD using this cloth. The furniture polish will increase the shine of the CD surface, allowing the disc to be read more easily by a CD player. When you're finished, clean the CD surface with rubbing alcohol following steps 1 and 2.
Squirt a few dots of toothpaste onto a soft cloth. While applying pressure, rub this soft cloth over the scratched surface of your CD. As you continue to rub the CD, the toothpaste will slowly smooth out and wear away the scratches on the CD surface. When finished removing the scratches, clean the CD surface with rubbing alcohol following steps 1 to 3.
