How to Import Audio to From Audacity to Quicktime

Audacity is a free audio recording, editing and mixing program, suitable for creating original music, podcasts and audio books. Apple QuickTime is a digital media player, which allows you to play audio and video files. QuickTime cannot play Audacity project files by default, but if you export your Audacity files using one of QuickTime's supported audio formats, you can enjoy your Audacity projects using the QuickTime player.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Audacity. On the menu bar, click "File" and select "Open." Use the navigation box to select the Audacity file that you want to export.

    • 2

Click "File," "Export." If using the Windows edition, you may see several "Export" options, such as "Export as WAV" and "Export as MP3." You can choose either of these formats. In the "Save As" box, enter the name of your audio project. In the following box, select the location on your hard drive where you want to save the exported file, such as on your desktop. Note that the Windows edition of Audacity has multiple "Export" options, for different file formats.

Click the "Format" box that appears below the "Save As" box. Select a QuickTime-compatible format from the list. QuickTime compatible formats include AIFF, WAV, MP3, M4A and AMR. Do not select one of the other file formats, such as FLAC or AC3; QuickTime cannot read them. Click "Save" after you make your selection.
