      Download and install an audio conversion application. Some of the most popular free programs include Media Converter SA, Razor Lame, and Switch. Download one of these programs at mediaconverter.org, dors.de, and nch.com.au. Follow the installation instructions and then open the program on your computer.

      Open the "Audio Input Source" menu and then navigate the browser to select your MP4 audio file. Click the "OK" button.

      Click the "Output Format" drop-down menu and select the "MP3" option. Select the "Convert" button. Choose a destination folder for your new MP3 audio file. Click "Convert" to start the conversion.
