How to: GP5 Files Into MIDI Without a Guitar

The Guitar Pro 5 software uses the GP5 file format to store guitar tablature information. These guitar-tab files contain the sheet music for guitar songs; many guitarists transcribe music in Guitar Pro and make the transcriptions available in GP5 format. Few music programs, however, can open or edit GP5 files. If you want to use the notation in a GP5 file in another digital-audio program, you'll need to convert it to a more widely used format such as MIDI.
