Select three tracks on the mixer. Assign one to the phase effect and give it a name to remind you that this is the track that will eliminate the vocals, such as “Vocal Removed.” The other two will be for the left and right channels.
Turn down the sliders, for both the left-into-right and right-into-left channels, to -1. Now everything that is panned to the center of the mix (such as bass and vocals) is reduced. Because you don’t want to reduce everything, you will need to fine-tune the sound by adjusting the EQ.
Mute the mid-frequencies, including the vocals, by using a bandpass filter. Apply phase canceling to the muted track.
