Instructions

  1. Making Flyers for Online Distribution and Printing

    • 1

Sketch a mock-up of how you would like your flyer to look and include in the layout your text, pictures and graphics. Leave some white space around these three elements.

    • 2

Go to BandFlyers.com, which allows users to create a band flyer for online distribution or printing. The site is free but requires users to create a log-in.

Make an interesting photo the center of attention in your flyer. After adding your photo, choose a background color and a border. Be careful of using too many colors. Use two main colors and a highlight color. Dark text goes over light background and vice versa.

    • 3

Insert text describing your band and your event. Choose a font that is easily read from a distance, such as Times New Roman. Print out a draft and tape it to the wall. Stand back approximately eight feet and read it. If it is not legible at this distance, adjust the font to a bigger size by right-clicking with your mouse and choosing "Font." The title of your flyer should use a 32 point font or larger. The text should use 14 point font or bigger.

Keep your design simple. Use at most two font styles. Too many graphics, pictures and font styles will confuse the reader and draw attention away from your message. Show your flyer to a friend. Does this person understand the message you are trying to get across? If not, rework the flyer until your message is clear.
