Brainstorm flyer ideas and compile all the necessary information for the ad. For example, if you're designing a band flyer to promote the release of a new album, you would want to include the name of the album, the release date and where fans can buy it. If you're promoting an upcoming show, you would want to compile as much information about the show as possible, such as the venue, lineup, time, date and ticket price.
Brainstorm a design concept that fits with the intent of your flyer and the image of your band. For example, if you're in a heavy metal band, it might not be the best idea to incorporate images of rainbows and puppies. If you're promoting a new album, you might want to design your flyer around the album imagery, incorporating colors and themes from the album cover.
Open a graphic design program, such as Corel Draw or Adobe Illustrator, and start a new project.
Set the measurements of your design to a standard poster size, such as 8.5 x 11 or 11 x 14 inches.
Upload images to your design. For example, you could upload an image of your band's logo, a band press photo or an album cover.
Add text to your band flyer, making sure it is large enough to be seen from a distance. Include all of the information you gathered and arrange it in a manner pleasing to the eye, highlighting the most important information. For example, if you are making a show flyer, make your band name bigger than the ticket price.
Save your band flyer to your hard drive.
Show the flyer design to the other members of the band and make any necessary changes.
Take your band flyer file to a print shop, have copies made and post them around town.
