List the information you need to include on the flyer. Include all details relating to the particular event, including the name of the band or bands, the date and time of the event and the venue.
Create a prototype for the music flyer. Sketch designs on a piece of paper and gather photographs, images, logos and other artwork you might use. Decide on a basic color theme and keep experimenting until you find a design that's right. Keep in mind that your design should match the musical genre you are promoting. The flyer makes the first connection with the show's potential audience, so artwork and design should send the right cues.
Design the music flyer on your computer. Microsoft Word works well for creating flyers but other programs such as Microsoft Publisher and Photoshop are good as well. Use the program you are most comfortable with. To start, open a new file and lay out the information, artwork, and color scheme, working from your prototype sketch. Computer paper makes a good size flyer, but smaller flyers are also effective. Consider making two flyers on one piece of paper. The paper can be cut in half and the flyers will be easier to hand out.
Distribute sample flyers. Once you are happy with your computer flyer design, print a few copies and distribute them to several people you trust to proofread the flyer for mistakes. Also ask them for suggestions that may make the flyer more effective. After gathering feedback, make necessary corrections and improvements to the flyer.
Print the final version of your music flyer. Print the flyer on your home printer or convert it to a Portable Document File (PDF) and have it professionally printed. If you are printing a large number of flyers, a professional printer will save you time plus wear and tear on your printer.
