How to Be an American Gladiator

NBC's American Gladiator hosts the ultimate David and Goliath battle where contestants who are physical fitness weekend warriors perform the role of David. Events like The Joust, The Wall and The Eliminator test your strength and endurance as you battle the show's gladiators. To become a contestant, either apply in person at an open casting call or mail in a video.

  1. Attend an American Gladiator Open Casting Audition

      Download the application forms from NBC's website and complete them. Your application must be legible and include all required items.

      Attend an open casting audition. The website provides a schedule of locations and times.

      Wear workout clothes and proper footwear. You may not be able to change before your audition.

      Go to the location early and get in the audition line. The audition runs for a set length of time and ends regardless of if people are still waiting in line.

      Complete the physical assessment, which tests your strength, balance, speed and agility.

    Submit a Video Application to American Gladiator

      Download the application forms from NBC's website and complete them. Your application must be legible. Include all application components such as a Certification of Veracity, Waiver and Release, photograph and resume.

      Use VHS/DVD or Mini-DV to format the video. Start your video with your name, location and occupation. Make a truthful, original videotape that shows your personality, hobbies and what makes you unique.

      Follow the guidelines for video submission on NBC's website. Limit the tape to five minutes, don't video tape on property you don't own and don't hurt yourself, others or animals.

      Mail your application package and video so it arrives before the deadline.
